Closing the Year With Clarity, Care & Confidence

by | Dec 1, 2025 | Employment Rights, HR Support, Menopause in the Workplace, Mental Health Awareness | 0 comments

December has arrived and with it comes the familiar mix of celebrations, pressure, reflection and the rush to complete everything before the holidays. It’s a beautiful month but it can also feel heavy, especially when you’re juggling work, family, finances and the emotional load the season brings.

As we close out the year, I want to focus on well-being, reducing stress, menopause awareness, leaving conflict behind and helping you prepare for a strong, organised and confident start to 2026.

The Reality of December: Festive, Full-On and Sometimes Overwhelming

December brings extra layers that can tip people into overwhelm, especially those navigating menopause or already stretched thin.

Christmas prep… magical but intense

Christmas parties, school nativities, gift planning, food shopping, hosting, finances, family expectations … it’s no wonder December is one of the most emotionally demanding months of the year.

For those experiencing menopause symptoms, this pressure can intensify fatigue, anxiety, brain fog and irritability.

Winter weather challenges

Snow, ice, storms and travel disruption create genuine operational and safety issues. This is why clear, fair and consistent policies; winter working, bad weather, flexible working, attendance, safety, matter so much. Having them in place protects both people and the organisation.

Emotional strain

Christmas amplifies everything: joy, loneliness, grief, stress, financial pressure, family dynamics. Being gentle with yourself and others is essential.

Workload pressure & unrealistic deadlines

Not everything needs to be finished before the break.  Your worth isn’t measured by how much you squeeze into December.  Make sure you take time to rest.

Menopause Awareness During the December Rush

The combination of cold weather, stress, late nights and increased expectations can worsen menopause symptoms, particularly sleep disruption, joint pain, low mood and cognitive fatigue.

Here are some gentle reminders:

  • Rest when your body asks for it
  • Hydration and movement really do help
  • Boundaries protect your well-being
  • You don’t have to push through alone

If you’d like menopause awareness training, Menopause policies, Menopause Risk Assessments or a Menopause Action Plan for your organisation, now is a perfect time to start, before Menopause Action Plan’s become voluntary when April’s legislative changes take effect.

Don’t Take Conflict Into the New Year

If there’s conflict lingering in your organisation, even quietly, don’t bring it into 2026.

Unresolved issues don’t fade; they fester.

Mediation helps to:

  • Rebuild trust
  • Clear misunderstandings
  • Reset expectations
  • Strengthen communication
  • Prevent escalation

Ending the year with clarity means starting the new one with confidence.

I’m here to support any mediation or conflict resolution needs before January arrives or into 2026.

A Year of Honours, Achievements & Gratitude

2025 has been a year filled with milestones I’m incredibly proud of and immensely grateful for.

Award Finalist – Twice!

I was honoured to be a finalist in two major awards this year:

✨ EVAs (Enterprise Vision Awards) – New Business Category

✨ The Freshies – HR Hero Category

And I’m thrilled to share that I’ve now been nominated for two Freshies Awards for 2026:

🌟 HR Hero

🌟 Well-being Warrior

These nominations mean the world and they reflect the heart of Sparks HR, supporting people with compassion, courage and clarity.

I also launched my podcast – Find Your Spark: Real Life Menopause Moments

A space for real conversations about menopause, well-being, leadership, HR and lived experiences.  It’s been a passion project that has grown beautifully this year.

And I created my first journal – Find Your Inner Spark, A Menopause Reflection Journal

A supportive reflective tool designed to help women navigate menopause, mental well-being and the emotional demands of work and life.  One of my proudest achievements of the year has been supplying organisations with enough copies of my journal to give to each member of their Menopause Support Groups!

Ending 2025 Proudly and Planning for 2026 With Purpose

I’m closing 2025 with most of my goals proudly ticked off and I’m already shaping my goals for 2026:

  • Expanding menopause training and resources
  • Supporting more organisations with conflict resolution
  • Leading impactful HR projects
  • Creating Series 2 of my podcast
  • Creating new tools to support women and workplaces
  • Continuing to build Sparks HR to support more organisations and have a positive impact

I set up Sparks HR in memory of my Dad who I sadly lost a few weeks beforehand.  I wanted to make my Dad proud, make a difference and add value to all of my clients and reflecting back on 2025, I feel that I am fulfilling my core aims.

Looking Ahead into 2026 and The Final Quarter of the Financial Year

As we approach Q4, many organisations are focusing on strengthening their HR foundations before the new financial year begins.

Here’s where I can support:

HR Support & Projects

  • Policy and contract of employment reviews and updates
  • HR audits and planning for 2026
  • Bespoke Leadership and Management training
  • Employee relations guidance including carrying out independent and impartial investigations
  • Organisational development and restructures

Menopause Support & Training

  • Menopause awareness sessions
  • Menopause Champions
  • Workplace adjustments guidance
  • Menopause Action Plans
  • Preparing for April’s legislation changes

Conflict Resolution & Mediation

  • Early intervention
  • Restoring relationships
  • Facilitated conversations
  • Preventing issues from escalating

April Legislation Changes, Are You Ready?

Start asking:

  • Are your policies aligned with upcoming changes?
  • Are your contracts updated and compliant?
  • Are managers trained and confident?
  • Are your menopause provisions aligned to best practice?
  • Do your teams know what support is available?

Getting ahead now prevents pressure later.
